About – Nadeshicon
April 3 to 5, 2020
Québec City Convention Centre

What’s Nadeshicon?

Nadeshicon is born of hope, commitment and passion of a few otakus. This is a convention organised by fans for fans.

Nadeshicon started with a dinner and a cultural day at the Club Anime Quebec. Participation was free of charge, and this day was the prologue of what would become the Nadeshicon festival one year later. A committee was mandated by the Anime Club Quebec to organise a convection following these main goals:

  • To cover both anime and traditional culture,
  • To be family-friendly and accessible,
  • and to be affordable.

The tickets are offered at an affordable price to make it possible for families to visit the convention without breaking the bank. The otakus can spend more money in the merchant room, which is always a great success at each convention.

The first official edition of Nadeshicon ended on Sunday night with no less than 650 visitors, and we only expected 300. What a great surprise! The second year was even better; we welcomed over 800 guests!

For the 2013 edition, the third year of the festival was marked by the passing of heading 1000 visitors, while the 2014 edition hosted over 1200 attendees! Another milestone was passed when, in 2015, over 2000 people attended the event, with a similar amount coming again to the 2016 edition.

Will you be there to rock Québec City Convention Centre in April?

Whence the name – Nadeshicon?

Nadeshiko is Japanese for carnation (a flower). Flowers, springtime, April… “Yamato Nadeshiko” is also an expression that refers to the perfect model of a Japanese woman, an interesting anecdote. So Nadeshicon is the contraction of nadeshiko and convention.
